Eddie Competition is an annual event that takes place in PodHopper's Hood in Februari each year. This page serves as the main source of information about the event. Here you will find how it is done, what you need to do to prepare and the results of previous competitions.
Eddie Competition is a game of skill and a bit of luck. The goal is to move Eddie the beachball along the course in the shortest time possible.
Eddie Competition is a revival of a game that was played around 2010 in Moula. Back then the physics engine was different and it looks like people lost interest in the game after the change to PhysX. I found it mentioned in the old Moula forums and decided to revive it in 2021.
The players start at the Ayoheek table. The players have to move Eddie along the course starting at the ayoheek table, then via the Light garden, up the stairs to school plaza, then going along the backside of the linking book room down the stairs, back to the start. At the end of the course, the timer is stopped when Eddie hits the Ayoheek table.
After all players have finished we gather around the fountain to reveal the winner of 'Eddie Competition'. I put the results also on the left imager near the fountain after the event.

Although the course may look simple enough, it takes practice to get Eddie where you want him to go. He can be unpredictable. Sometimes he just bounces off in an unforseen way and you better not get him stuck somewhere, or you'll waste precious time on getting him out of there...
Eddie moves basically as you would expect from a beachball although he has a slightly heavier feel to it. Horizontal movement is done by walking up against Eddie resulting in Eddie bouncing off of your avvie. Because of that Eddie will bounce off differently depending on if you kick him in the middle or more to the side of Eddie. You should familiarize yourself with what direction Eddie will go depending on where exactly you hit him.
The Light Garden with its curved pathways can be tricky as Eddie might get stuck there. At first, take it slow here. Later on you will be able to speed it up.
The stairs are probably the hardest part. Following the different techniques from the 'Hints & Tips' section, you should be able to get Eddie up the stairs. This part takes some practice. On your very first try it is highly unlikely that you will get Eddie up the stairs. But after a few more tries you will find it easier to do.
The course
1 The Light Garden: the most devious part in the entire course. You'll need luck to get Eddie through here. When Eddie gets stuck in a corner or against a pillar, you can try getting on top of Eddie and walking toward the corner in the hopes that you fall behind him, pushing him out of the corner. You can also try wedging yourself between Eddie and the wall or you can run into Eddie in the hopes that he will bounce out of the corner.
2 The stairs: push Eddie toward the wall and keep him suspended between yourself and the wall. Walk up the stairs while keeping the same distance between the wall and yourself.
Another way that works well for short distances: while pushing Eddie forward, keep wiggling left and right. This way, you give Eddie more or less no chance of rolling past you. It also works well on Quabs..
When walking up the stairs with Eddie, keep him at all times before you. This sounds obvious, but people often tend to forget the obvious once they are almost at the top of the stairs...
3 Past the stairs: this is the easiest part of the course. Guide Eddie in the right direction is pretty much all you have to do here. Only two real obstacles left: 1) the corner under the bridge past the waterfall, 2) the niche along the water toward the finish.
Under the bridge past the waterfall, at the end where you can go down 2 steps toward the Ayoheek table or go up the stairs to the upper part of the bridge. The corner on the lower bridge looks bigger than it is and only one of you (Eddie or you) can pass through it at any time.
The niche along the water at the end is the next real obstacle. The camera angles for 3rd person view are awkward there, better steer clear from it, or use 1st person view.
1st person view or 3rd person view?
This is mostly a matter of personal preference. Sometimes though, certain things are easier to do in 1st person view. Walking up the stairs with Eddie can be one of those things. Try it and decide for yourself.
The key to switch between views is F1.
